  • HOW TO LOOK AFTER YOUR NEW JEWELLERY?
    Now that you have this lovely, handmade jewellery, it's easy to look after it. All sterling silver, silver plated copper and brass, pure copper jewellery will naturally patina over time. bring back the luster with a with a jeweller's cloth or silver polish. Quick cleaning can be done with a small dab of tooth paste and water, rub gently, rinse and dry. Store your jewellery in a closed plastic bag. Do not wear jewellery in the shower, swimming and put it on last when dressing.
  • HOW TO CLEAN COPPER JEWELRY?
    Clean the silver plated, copper and sterling silver jewellery with toothpaste (regular toothpaste with no whiteners, etc.) and an old toothbrush or your fingers, rub and then wash with soap and water, dry thoroughly- clean the jewellery with a copper or silver polish and then wash with soap and water, dry thoroughly- clean the jewellery with lemon juice and sprinkle with salt, rub and then wash with soap and water, dry thoroughly- when not in use, keep all clean jewellery in a plastic baggie and add a little drying bag ( the tiny bags of silica sand found in new shoe boxes, etc.) Art for Ears jewellery, gently wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Add clear nail polish to the surface and edges of the ear cuff is an option. This adds an extra layer of potection to the lacquered surface.
  • WILL THIS RING OR BRACELET TURN MY SKIN GREEN?
    That's a good question. Skin reacts to copper and brass in different ways and sometimes it will turn your skin green when worn. One can’t tell without wearing the metal, if the skins will react or not.When copper or brass reacts with skin, it’s only oxidation and less likely to happen with a bracelet than a ring because there is more air circulating a bracelet. If your skin does react with the metal, the reaction will usually disappear over night or can be washes off with soap and water.
  • HOW TO PREVENT A GREEN SKIN REACTION?
    Keep the ring and/or bracelet clean by wiping away the skin oil and dirt after wearing the jewellery - take the jewellery off at night and clean it before you wear it - coat the jewellery with clear nail polish to prevent the metal from coming in contact with the skin and prevent the skin from turning green (reapplication may be needed occasionally) - coat the jewellery with car polish or a floor polish will prevent the metal from coming in contact with the skin and prevent the skin from turning green - use hand or body lotion on the skin under the ring or braceletCoatings are fast and effective, and will need reapplication occasionally.
  • DOES VERA HAVE AN ETSY SHOP?
    Yes, I have an Etsy shop also called ItsVera. Knitting tension rings are available in both Vera's Etsy shop and HERE In Vera's own website. Other jewellery items may vary in both shops.
  • WHAT ARE VINTAGE (mid century) SILVER PLATED TRAYS?
    HISTORY OF CANADIAN SILVER PLATE James A. Watts had been a sales representative in Hamilton, Ontario Canada for Meriden Britannia Company, formed in 1852, in Meriden Connecticut, USA. Meriden had a branch factory in Hamilton, Ontario where silver plated products where manufactured. 1882, James A. Watts founded the Toronto Silver Plate Company becoming the first company in Canada to manufacture silver plated products. 1913, the Toronto Silver Plate Company was acquired by Canadian Wm. A. Rogers Company. 1929, Wm. A. Rogers Company was absorbed by Oneida Community Limited. *Vera tries to source and use silver plated products manufactured in Hamilton to make her original designed crochet knitting rings and some of the other jewellery. The trays are made of a base metal either copper or brass. A thin layer of sterling silver is electroplated on the base metal.
